No decisions on applications filed by asylum seekers from Lebanon for now
For the time being, the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) will not make any decisions on asylum applications filed…
The government has announced its plans for asylum and migration. The government, just as the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND), believes that changes are necessary. The IND has already been stating for a longer time that the service has been experiencing obstacles in the implementation of the current migration policy.
The government programme and the European Migration Pact offer an opportunity to reshape the asylum process and make it more efficient, austere and cheaper. The IND has also been working more efficiently for some time: by working smarter and simplifying the work where possible in order to provide for a higher rate of productivity.
In addition the IND has been working on the implementation of the EU Migration Pact in June 2026. It would help the service if as many changes to the asylum process can be made at the same time. This would give the IND sufficient time to prepare well. Simultaneous implementation enables less additional work than changing parts at different times. It is also important in this regard that besides sufficient time, the IND also receives sufficient, multiyear financing.
